South Africa’s unemployment by gender

Unemployment in South Africa skews in favor of men, with joblessness among women consistently higher. In the third quarter of 2016, more than 2.8 million women—or 29.3% of women aged 15 to 64—were unemployed. In comparison, that rate was 25.2% for men (just over 3 million) aged 15 to 64.
